Martin Savannah Long Bow Review

Posted by admin | August 24, 2009 .

Martin Savannah Longbow FullIt’s time to write a review about my Martin Savannah Long Bow. I picked it up a couple of months ago on impulse. I say that because the bow is so dam pretty, you’ll fall in love right away. I’ve been so busy shooting it, that I would rather do that then write a long bow review about it

This won’t, no, this can’t be an objective long bow review because the Martin Savannah Longbow is my baby. I learned everything on her.

I learned my anchors, stance, terms… Things like AMO, Brace Height and draw weight. It’s been a truly enjoyable process. Everything from the days in the woods setting up tree stands to learning how to fletch my own arrows.

The Martin Savannah Long Bow is quiet (I still wanted to install fur string silencers cause their cool), pulls #55 at 28” and has a brace height of 7” avg. The riser made of ovangkol. Limbs are made of red elm laminations and clear fiberglass. Mine has a nice leather riser grip and extra layer of varnish from the previous owner.

Martin Savannah Longbow closeSeeing as I am the second owner, that’s a great testament to the reliability of this bow. I have no idea what he put it through but I’ve done my best so far with wet conditions and “back of the truck” beatings (well, light beatings) and it still shoots like a dream to me.

You can see that it was no problem to put on the mounted arrow quiver. It comes off super easy and doesnt leave any marks. I also have a leather handgrip and fur arrow rest on the shelf on my Martin that the previous owner put on.

I love how light this bow is and I bring it with me fishing just in case I run into any rabbits along the way. It’s never a hassle to carry this bow along.

Something else cool about this bow is that during the testing of the prototype Savannah Longbow, they broke the National and World Flight Record old mark by 25 yards.

Cool.

It you have one, let me know what you think of yours by adding your comments to this long bow review below. You can check out a picture of the Martin Savannah Long Bow here

[...] fishing the other day, I thought maybe I would try to put some meat in the freezer by bringing my Martin Savannah Longbow along to hunt some rabbits just outside of Calgary. Heaven knows there are a ton of rabbits INSIDE [...]
